The Stars Shine at the 73rd Annual Golden Globes

This Sunday, the 75th Annual Golden Globes Award Show kicked off the 2016 Award Show season.  The stars aligned in Los Angeles, CA and the fashionable superstars did not disappoint!  There were a lot to choose from, but here are my top 5 favorite red carpet looks of the night.

Katy Perry Pretty in Pink (Prada)

Despite the red carpet critics say,  Katy Perry rocked the carpet in Prada, bump-it and all.  This Prada look was very sexy and form fitting, and with the straps and hair, Perry did an ode to the ’90s with this look.  Perry is very smart with her fashion statements, and this tongue-in-cheek look did not disappoint.

Lady GaGa Smooth as Velvet in Versace

Superstar Lady Gaga brought IT in a black velvet Versace Autelier gown with implanted curves.  When Lady walked onto the stage with fashion designer Tom Ford, my breath was taken away.  Gaga gave us a Marylin Monroe-esque old glamour Hollywood look and nailed it. The 29-year-old Lady of the night won her first Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Miniseries and deserved Best Dressed as well.  Congrats Gaga!  Sidenote:  Gaga enlisted makeup artist from Mike Mekash of American Horror Story to airbrush cover her tattoos.  Very interesting Gaga!

Rachel McAdams Lovely in Lanvin

Another highly controversial look was Rachel McAdams in a floral printed gown by French design house Lanvin.  Printed gowns are hard to pull off on such an important red carpet, but the “Spotlight” actress brought out the big buds and looked beautiful while standing out on the carpet.  Worth the risk, Rachel!

Kate Hudson Brings The Steelo in Michael Kors

Fashionista Kate Hudson brought the beach to the red carpet in this peachy-pink crystal embedded Michael Kors gown.  The gown was a party in the front with a bandeau top revealing her abs, and a ’90s-style choker.  Kate’s look felt very nostalgic in a 1960s, laid back yet glamorous way.  Check out the peach platforms Kate rocked as well.  Was superstar stylist Rachel Zoe behind this look?  I steelo-approve!

Swoon. Fall 2016 London Collections Menswear Delivers.

The time has finally come for the Fashion World of Menswear to have its time to celebrate the future.  2016 is officially here as London Collections Mens Week kicks off in Great Britian.  LCM is the Menswear version of New York Fashion Week.  As I anxiously await my favorite Menswear designer Alexandre Mattiussi for AMI, I will share my personal favorite LCM Collections that went down the first week of January 2016.  Let’s go!

PringleofScotland

Pringle of Scotland showed a collection of modern outerwear, knitwear, and trousers with their main color themes being navy blue, black, Fall orange, and greys.  I want every outfit, especially the leather jacket with shearling collar and sleeves.  I’m a fan of the mixed media used on the outerwear, along with the orange and black knitted sweaters.  As a San Francisco Giants and a Halloween-lover, it’s all me!

agiandsam

Agi & Sam Menswear duo burst onto the scene a couple of years ago with their fun and quirky menswear designs and tailoring.  Their Fall 2016 collection really caught my eye because of their knitwear patterns, oversized yet tailored looks, and clean approach to menswear.  I would rock each piece with pride.

coach

I virtually ignored COACH since it’s saturing effect on mainstream fashion, but I have finally opened my eyes to their new design perspective.  The looks are extremely clean and wearable for the modern, cool young and older gentlemen.  Designer Stuart Vevers has made Coach cool again.  With his inspiration from 1970s New York, Bruce Springstein, and Hip Hop, the looks came out a mix of hip and nostalgic.  Known for their leatherware, Vevers didn’t disappoint with Fall outerwear.

An honorary mention goes to Sibling London.  A knitwear-heavy brand, the collection shows clever ways to present sweaters and knitwear.  I love the Rocky theme, and the juxtaposition of hard and soft is shown with athletic boxer-type male models, styled in soft and tailored knitwear.  The outcome is a winner.
